According to wikipedia: “In 1908, U.S. Patent 887,357 for a wireless telephone was issued in to Nathan B. Stubblefield of Murray, Kentucky.”
1908?! Wow that’s pretty astounding. Imagine if Louis and Clarke had cell phones?
The Gateway Arch is one of the most recognized architectural structures in the world. You and your cell phone can take a fast 4 minute tram ride to the top. I wonder how many people get to the top and call a friend to say “I’m at the top of the Gateway Arch!”
St Louis’ professional sports teams are the baseball Cardinals, the football Rams and the hockey Blues. For sports fans and tourists alike the professional sports arena in St Louis is second to none. If you find yourself in a huge stadium lost and you need to find your friend well that trusty little cell phone will connect you.
Cell phones make the world a much smaller and more manageable place. The ability to contact some one where ever you are on the fly is a powerful resource. You could make plans with a friend to meet in one place like the Gateway arch and be in touch with each other throughout your whole traveling experience. There is no guessing when they will show up or if they had car trouble or woke up late you can have real time knowledge of their whereabouts.
